Capital Region Beach Shuts Down Due to Algae Bloom

NewsChannel 13 Video

Not the greatest news during this latest heatwave

If you were planning to cool off in Saratoga Lake at Brown's Beach, unfortunately you'll need to hold off - at least through Tuesday. NewsChannel 13 says a harmful algae bloom discovered Monday continues to raise concerns over health issues in the area of the beach.

The Town of Stillwater operates Brown's Beach and although the county gave the ok for swimming to return, they worry the hot temps could spawn another algae bloom causing them to shut down again.

There are plenty of other beaches including Million Dollar Beach on Lake George, Grafton Lakes State Park and others if you are willing to make the drive.
